If Boban Doesn't Win An Oscar For His Role In John Wick 3 It Will Be The Biggest Snub In Cinematic History
You can read more about this trailer from the LCP boys here, but I want to focus solely on that one quick scene with Boban. I know I was personally excited when we got the news that Boban was going to be making his silver screen debut in John Wick 3, but that 2 second clip is all I needed to see to know that this is going to be 10x better than any of us imagined. What you thought Boban was a one trick pony basketball player who happens to have the highest PER of all time? Silly you. History is obviously littered with Oscar snubs, whether it’s Leo in Titanic, Jamie Foxx in Django Unchained, Jack Nicholson in The Shining, the list goes on and on. However I am confident in saying that if Boban does not win an Oscar for what he does in this movie than it will be one of the all time biggest snubs. Let’s just review quickly what we saw in this trailer
First off, we have one of the deadliest kicks we’ve ever seen. Look at his form on that bad boy. I was partially surprised that he was even able to get his leg up that high and then equally surprised that it apparently did not immediately cave in John Wick’s chest. I get he’s a badass assassin and everything but he also must have the hardest sternum of all time. Then that quick cuts to one of the most outrageous things I’ve ever seen. Boban’s mouth is so goddamn gigantic that he’s able to essentially be curb stomped with a library book? I immediately need to know what happens next. Is that how Boban is defeated? Because his head was smashed by an Encyclopedia Britannica?
Normally I’m iffy when it comes to seeing movies in the theatre given my last name and everything, normally I just wait for shit to his HBO/Netflix etc, but there’s no chance I’m not going to see Boban opening night. If the rest of his performance is as riveting as that quick 2 seconds it will be well worth the money. I just hope they also gave him some lines because hearing that man talk is half of what makes him so hilarious.
Deep down I always knew he had the potential to be a movie star after watching his Bobi x Tobi series
so I’m glad he’s finally getting his shot on the big screen. Let this also be a lesson to any movie producers/directors out there. You want cheap ass people like me to see your movie? Give Boban a role. Anything will do really, the man just has that type of juice.
Your move Academy, don’t get this wrong.
